LOGO DESIGN
KICK OFF 2023
I created this logo for the annual company party known as "Kick Off" week, marking the start of their busy season. The logo embodies the slogan "Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future."
The design begins by symbolizing the past with an illustration of the type of camera used for the company's first composite photo in 1937. It then progresses to camera film with 8 frames, representing the eight decades of the company's existence. The film transitions into modern pixels, reflecting contemporary photography, and concludes with a depiction of today's digital camera.
This design was applied to T-shirts for all employees, presented in matching gift boxes with personalized name tags. The gift box also included a weekly schedule for the celebration week. Additionally, the logo was featured on all party signs for each event.
ALPHA DELTA PI
This Alpha Delta Pi design was created for placement on various items such as tote bags, water bottles, and pillowcases, to be sold to former and current members of this sorority. When creating a design for any Greek organizations, there are strict brand guidelines one must adhere to for licensing approval. Consequently, every aspect of this design is symbolic of the rich history of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
The hand-drawn flowers surrounding the design are inspired by the Woodland Violet, the official flower of Alpha Delta Pi, symbolizing devotion and faith. At the center is the official symbol of Alpha Delta Pi, a diamond representing the strengthening of character and personality, the observation of attitudes toward fellow beings, the recognition of the value of high educational standards, and the development of faith and loyalty. Both the diamond and the text inside it adhere to the organization's official color, Azure blue. The text in this design features the Florence font, the only element not specified in their guidelines. I selected this font to infuse a feminine and whimsical quality into the overall aesthetic, effectively distinguishing this design from others created for the same sorority.
AP SYSTEMS
This logo was designed for an individual launching their software company, specializing in collaboration with construction engineers. The client's specifications included a steel background with yellow paint, as demonstrated in a reference photo, and a mandatory incorporation of a unicorn. Given the company's focus on construction, the color palette was inspired by road signs and concrete.
To maintain a professional aesthetic and counterbalance the whimsy of the unicorn illustration, I strategically combined the letters A and P in the primary logo. Additionally, I created a secondary logo for practicality in smaller formats, as the text in the primary version could become indistinct when scaled down.
BOUTWELL HILL SKI CLUB
This logo design was commissioned by a Western New York ski club for use on shirts and hats distributed to its members. The client specifically requested the incorporation of their slogan, "WNY Lake-Effect Snow Capital," alongside the club's name. Given the intended use for apparel, I opted for a simple design with large letters to minimize the risk of print production errors.
The logo comprises three key elements: prominent text, a mountain range representing skiing, and a snowflake paying homage to the club's distinction as the
Lake-Effect Snow Capital of Western New York. This straightforward design ensures clarity and impact on apparel, aligning seamlessly with the client's vision for their promotional items.
CORPORATE BRANDING APPLICATIONS
Both of these branding concepts were crafted as exercises in logo design and corporate application intended for fictional uses.
ADANNA OPP BUSINESS CONSULTING
The logo design for the fictional business consulting company “Adanna Opp Business Consulting”, uses a fusion of the letters A and O in a continuous line imparts a sense of swift movement, symbolizing the ease and balanced nature that characterizes this company. The use of the color blue is intentional, representing inspiration, trust, confidence, and stability in the visual identity.
The business cards were designed with both halves of the logo on each side, presenting a professional yet modern aesthetic for the business. Additionally, the letterhead incorporates a subtle swoop of the O in the background, providing a cohesive and unified visual identity.
ART DEPARTMENT LOGO REDESIGN
This branding concept served as a logo redesign exercise for my alma mater's Visual Arts and New Media department. The original logo, redesigned recently, faced dissent from a majority of design students, prompting my interest in this project.
The primary objective was not a complete overhaul but rather an upgrade to select elements, focusing on enhancing readability and printability. I streamlined the design by removing overlapping letters and the plus sign, aiming for increased clarity and cohesiveness. The elimination of color allows for understanding with or without colored ink—a practical consideration given the extensive daily printing in the department. To preserve the original logo's sense of movement, I reimagined it by layering the strokes from each letter instead of the letters themselves. This approach maintains a familiar yet elevated design.
